Joe Graves, CFA
Managing Principal
Joe is a founding Principal at Herndon Capital Partners and co-chairs the Investment Committee as well as leads the Operations team. Previously, Joe served as the Vice President of Finance for Brixton Capital, where he helped grow the early-stage investment firm to over $1 billion in real estate assets under management during his seven-year tenure. He brings significant experience as a fiduciary for family office, ultra-high-net-worth, and institutional clients. Joe started his career at Brixton Capital as an Asset Manager and was instrumental in developing the firm’s strategic plan and overseeing the financial health of Brixton’s portfolio.
Prior to joining Brixton Capital, Joe worked for OliverMcMillan, a mixed-use real estate developer. Joe was also an investment banker in New York for J.P. Morgan’s real estate investment banking group, where he provided strategic advisory, conducted merger analysis, and raised capital.
Joe served with distinction as an Infantry Officer in the US Marine Corps, completing a combat tour to Iraq in 2008. He graduated with merit from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Ocean Engineering, received a Master of Science in Ocean Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Joe is a member of the HBS Club of San Diego and a CFA® charterholder.
Erich Wallis
Managing Principal
Erich is a founding Principal at Herndon Capital Partners and co-chairs the Investment Committee as well as leads the Investor Relations team. Previously, Erich worked as an investment and development manager for the Koman Group, where he focused exclusively on multifamily real estate. During his tenure he was responsible for underwriting new investment and development assets, served as a project manager on two development projects in North County San Diego, and was instrumental in the strategic planning of an Environment, Social, and Governance multifamily investment platform focused on the Western United States. Additionally, Erich brings experience investing in the hospitality and manufactured housing sectors.
Prior to joining the Koman Group, Erich spent time as an investment banker for Goldman Sachs’ leverage finance group.
Erich served for nine years as a Navy SEAL platoon commander with four combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Erich has received numerous awards to include the Bronze Star with Valor for his distinguished service. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Economics and has an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute, NAOIP San Diego, and the Stanford Graduate School of Business San Diego Chapter.
